While many of us jokingly say that we have been preparing for social distancing and self-isolation for quite some time, the reality is that none of us were prepared for the COVID-19 crisis. Sure, we would spend hours in the studio, creating new tracks, then perfecting them, and then starting all over because it wasn’t quite what we wanted. And, yes, we have played online RPG’s with strangers from around the world as we sit in our dark living rooms in our pyjamas, eating whatever we could find in the pantry. And, while that does sound a lot like what we have been doing these past few months, we like the option of leaving the house once in a while, maybe even to attend a live music event featuring our favourite electronica artists.
But, in a post COVID-19 world, that might not be possible for quite some time yet. With our new normal including social distancing, self-quarantine, and more lockdown measures possible, will we be able to attend another live music event?
The Live Music Event Experience
The live entertainment scene will not be returning to any sense of normalcy any time soon which has many music fans looking for ways to replace the live music event experience any way they can. While there really isn’t any way to do that, we are now looking forward with a hopeful eye that the music industry will come up with a solution sooner than later.
Keeping that in mind, let’s take a look at some possible solutions that would enable us to safely return to live music events. Let’s get started:
Events With Reduced Capacity- one of the more likely scenarios for returning to live music events is events with much smaller than average crowds. This could lead to more sold out shows and artists offering multi-night shows to accommodate their fans.
Higher Security Features- check-in screenings of some type will be required at many live music events. This will, however, lead to much longer queues as screenings will slow down entry to events with fewer access points.
Live Streaming Events- while not exactly the same as a live show, live streaming events seem like the most logical solution, at least for now. These could grow into much larger events and possibly live shows, but the COVID-19 crisis will have to be resolved first.
